Dr. Apold is an Adult Nurse Practitioner and long time advocate and activist in nursing and health policy. Dr. Apold is the Co-Lead for the New York State Action Coalition and a member of the Sub-Specialty Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine. She served as President of both The American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) and the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State. The first Health Policy Director for the ACNP, she was instrumental in moving the dissolution of the ACNP and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners forward to create one strong national voice for nurse practitioners in the United States. Dr. Apold served as a member-at-large of the inaugural Board of Directors of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners from 2013 through 2014. Dr. Apold is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow and the Chair of the AANP Leadership Program. Dr. Apold has numerous publications, over 3 million dollars in grant funding and speaks nationally on issues of importance to nurse practitioners and their patients.
