Prof. Marilyn Sommers Biography:
Marilyn S. Sommers is currently the Research and Scholarship Consultant at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She is Professor Emerita, the past Lillian S. Brunner Professor of Medical Surgical Nursing, and the past Director for the Center for Global Women's Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She received a BSN from University of Pennsylvania, MA in Nursing from New York University, and PhD from The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on the physical and behavioral responses to injury, violence, and risk taking. Her program of research was supported by more than $20 million from the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Child Health and Development, and National Institute of Nursing Research.
