NICHE’s Jennifer Pettis receives Sigma’s Geriatric Nursing Leadership Award

The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) has named Jennifer Pettis the recipient of its 2021 AmyJen Pettis headshot J. Berman Geriatric Nursing Leadership Award, one of its International Awards for Nursing Excellence. The award will be presented during Sigma’s 46th Biennial Convention, which will be held this November in Indianapolis.

Pettis is the acting director of programs for Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) at NYU Meyers, the leading nurse-driven program designed to help hospitals and healthcare organizations improve the care of older adults. Pettis has more than 25 years of healthcare experience as a nurse, nurse researcher, educator, and consultant working to improve healthcare for older adults.

Sigma’s International Awards for Nursing Excellence reflect the organization’s dedication to fostering high professional nursing standards, recognizing superior achievement, developing leadership, and encouraging creative work. The Amy J. Berman Geriatric Nursing Leadership Award is bestowed upon an individual who has contributed to collaborative practice through involvement in interprofessional teams and defined commitment to gerontological nursing.
