Prof. Margaret McCarthy named fellow of the American Heart Association

NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing’s Margaret McCarthy, PhD, assistant professor, has been elected as a ellowf of the American Heart Association (AHA). 

McCarthy and the other newly elected fellows were recognized on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Annual Council on Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing Awards Dinner, which was held will be held during the AHA Scientific Sessions 2017 in Anaheim, California.

McCarthy is a family nurse practitioner and an exercise physiologist. Her research focuses on promoting exercise in populations at risk for cardiovascular disease. She has conducted research in adults with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Election as an AHA fellow recognizes a scholar’s scientific and professional accomplishments and volunteer leadership and service. Physicians, nurses, scientists, and other healthcare professionals with a major and productive interest in cardiovascular diseases and stroke are eligible for fellowship.
