Associate Dean Emerson Ea named Health and Aging Policy Fellow

Emerson Ea, BSN, DNP, PhD, associate dean for clinical and adjunct faculty affairs and clinical
professor at NYU Meyers, has been selected for the 2022-2023 class of Health and Aging Policy
Fellows.

The Health and Aging Policy Fellows Program aims to create a cadre of leaders to serve as
change agents in health and aging policy to ultimately improve the healthcare of older adults.
The year-long fellowship offers a training and enrichment program focused on current policy
issues, communication skills development, and professional networking opportunities to
provide fellows with the experience and skills necessary to help affect policy.

Ea is one of 14 incoming 2022-2023 Fellows, comprised of health and aging professionals from
various fields of work. Fourteen years since its creation, the Health and Aging Policy Fellows
Program now has 166 current and alumni Fellows. The fellowship is supported by The John A.
Hartford Foundation, West Health, The Atlantic Philanthropies, the US Veterans Health
Administration, the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation
Research/Administration for Community Living, among others.

Ea’s scholarship interests include nursing education and innovation, immigrant health and
wellbeing, and cardiovascular health. For more than a decade, he has worked to advance the
health and well-being of Filipino immigrants in the United States. Ea is currently co-investigator
of the Community Engagement Core of the recently funded NIH P50 Center, the Rutgers-NYU
Center for Asian Health Promotion and Equity. He is also leading two projects focused on
minority aging and immigrant oral health.
