Ten NYU Meyers faculty and alumni to be inducted into the American Academy of Nursing

Four NYU Meyers faculty and seven alumnae are among the 231 highly distinguished nurse leaders from around the world selected by the American Academy of Nursing as its newest fellows. The inductees will be honored at a ceremony during the Academy's annual policy conference, Transforming Health, Driving Policy, which will take place October 24-26, 2019 in Washington, D.C.
The NYU Meyers faculty selected—who possess expertise in pediatrics, palliative care, global health, quality improvement, and more—are:
- Maja Djukic, PhD, RN (MS '06, PhD '09), associate professor
- Donna M. Hallas, PhD, RN, PPCNP-BC, CPNP, PMHS, FAANP, clinical professor and director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program
- Robin Toft Klar, DNS, RN, clinical assistant professor
- Dorothy Wholihan, DNP, AGPCNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACHPN, FPCN, clinical associate professor and director of the Advanced Practice Palliative Care Specialty Sequence.
In addition to Djukic, NYU Meyers celebrates six alumnae selected as fellows:
- Mary Joy Garcia-Dia, DNP, RN (MA '02) of NewYork-Presbyterian
- Wilhelmina Manzano, MA, RN, NEA-BC (BS '81, MA '87) of NewYork-Presbyterian
- Arlene Smaldone, PhD, CPNP-PC (MA '75) of Columbia University
- Eleanor Lowndes Stevenson, PhD, RN (PhD '11) of Duke University
- Maria L. Vezina, EdD, RN, NEA-BC (MA '77) of Mount Sinai St. Luke's
- Jennifer Yost, PhD, RN (MA '05, PhD '09) of Villanova University.
The Academy is currently comprised of more than 2,600 nurse leaders in education, management, practice, policy, and research. They have been recognized for their extraordinary commitment to the promotion of the public’s health through evidence and innovation. The new fellows are selected based on their impressive contributions to increase access, reduce cost, and improve quality through nursing theory, practice, and science.
