ACCESS II Overview
The ACCESS II research study is a randomized clinical trial designed help adolescents and young adults (AYA) who have difficulties taking their antiretroviral treatment (ART) as prescribed by their healthcare providers. This study is assessing the effectiveness of receiving support and education from a peer health coach versus a web-based platform in improving ART adherence. The peer-led intervention will be carried out by an adolescent or young adult with experience in HIV, to understand a one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to improve ART adherence.
Smartphones are provided to study participants to be able to complete the study activities remotely.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to participate in the ACCESS II study, study participants must meet the following criteria:
ACCESS II Timeline
Study participants are asked to participate in 8 weekly sessions (with a peer health coach or web-based platform), along with a study visit at the beginning, 3 months and 6 months into the study. Participation in this study is expected to last approximately 6 months.
ACCESS II Compensation
Study participants will be compensated for the completion of select study activities via ClinCard, a reloadable debit card.
If all the study activities are completed, study participants will be compensated a total of $350!
