Uniting the vision and strengths of both faculty and students at Howard University and NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, the PEACE initiative is a collaborative dedicated to advancing health equity education, policy and practice. PEACE aims to transform health care outcomes, particularly for marginalized communities, through scholarship, innovation, shared learning, and training. This initiative offers specialized courses, clinical experience, research opportunities, and collaborative engagement to dismantle inequities in health care education and to cultivate leaders prepared to shape a more just academic and health care landscape. PEACE was established to:
- Increase the pipeline of midwives and birth equity practitioners.
- Build a cadre of nursing leaders advancing health equity in research, education, policy, and practice.
- Strengthen faculty development in equity-based pedagogy and scholarship.
