Charlotte Stone, MSN, RN, AGACNP-BC, is a nurse and nurse practitioner with more than ten years of clinical experience in palliative care across inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. She earned a BA in Anthropology from Syracuse University and later earned her BSN and MSN from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She subsequently completed a one-year advanced practice nursing fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to advancing high-quality, patient-centered care and improving the experiences of patients and families facing serious illness. She was recognized as Lenox Hill Hospital's Nurse Practitioner of the Year in 2024 and was previously nominated for the hospital's Nursing Excellence Award in 2021, 2022, and 2026. Charlotte has demonstrated leadership in nursing education and systems-level quality improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of a Sensitivity Symbol at her hospital to enhance awareness and support for patients receiving end-of-life care. Her research experience includes serving as a clinician collaborator on an NIH-funded study of hospice transitions at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She also contributed to a study examining trauma exposure, compassion fatigue, and burnout among oncology and hospice clinicians at Northwell Health's Center for Traumatic Stress, Resilience and Recovery. Her years of clinical practice have directly shaped her research interests in the organization and delivery of palliative care, with particular attention to how healthcare systems structure, value, and sustain care work. She seeks to understand how organizational and financial structures shape the conditions under which care is delivered and experienced by patients and families facing serious illness and the clinicians who care for them. As a future nurse scientist, she is committed to advancing equitable, sustainable, and high-quality palliative care.
