Program Overview
NYU Meyers encourages interested scholars to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Nursing Science. The fellowship program supports outstanding early-career investigators whose research advances the mission to transform health outcomes through rigorous, innovative, and impactful nursing science.
Our faculty lead research programs across four major focus areas:
- Adults, Aging, and Serious Illness — geriatrics, palliative, and long-term care; management and treatment of serious illness; mental health and well-being.
- Health Services Research — health systems, policy, and workforce issues
- Maternal, Reproductive, and Child Health — reproductive, maternal, perinatal, neonatal, childhood, and adolescent health and well-being, and their connections to social, biological, and structural factors.
- Population Precision Health and Chronic Conditions — individualized prevention and treatment, data-driven interventions, proactive health strategies, and investigation of underlying biomolecular mechanisms.

Ruotong Mona Liu, PhD
Dr. Ruotong Mona Liu is an NYU Postdoctoral Associate researching the intersections of oral health, multimorbidity, and cognitive decline to improve equitable care for older adults.

Zhijing Xu, PhD, MSN, BSN, RN
Dr. Zhijing Xu is an NYU Postdoctoral Associate and CAHPE Scientist researching cardiometabolic health, mental health, and aging. She contributes to NIH-funded dementia research and has extensive expertise in teaching advanced nursing and gerontology.

Jia Yin Ruan, PhD
Dr. Jia Yin Ruan is an NYU Postdoctoral Associate researching aging and dementia caregiving. Using mixed-methods, she develops innovative interventions for sleep and integrative health, with a specific focus on Asian community well-being and traditional Chinese medicine.

Eunjung Ko, PhD, AGPCNP-BC, RN
Dr. Eunjung Ko is a postdoctoral associate and serves as a project manager for the project entitled “New York University Caregiver Intervention–Enhanced Support (NYUCI-ES).” Her research and passion focus on the adult population, dementia caregiving, caregivers’ health, intervention implementation, and minority populations, particularly Asian Americans.

Yunrui Liu, PhD
Dr. Yunrui Liu is a researcher at the intersection of psychology, data science, and cognitive epidemiology. Specializing in aging and decision-making, their work utilizes advanced longitudinal modeling on large-scale datasets (UKB, HRS, SOEP, SHARE) to identify risk factors for dementia and drivers of healthy cognitive aging. Key research areas include sleep, risk preference, and gene-environment interactions.

Andrew D. Jopson, PhD, MPH
Dr. Andrew Jopson is a postdoctoral associate and supports Dr. Travers's R01 grant evaluating the effects of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) on nursing home staff and residents. His research aims to develop and evaluate policies that improve the care experiences of older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers.
