Xi Cao, MSN, BSN, RN, is a first-year PhD student at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She earned her BSN from D’Youville College in 2021 and her MSN from Yale University in 2025, where she trained as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Following her BSN, Xi began her career as a Clinical Research Nurse at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center in Guangzhou, China, where she contributed to multiple phase I–IV clinical trials investigating novel therapies for gliomas.
At Yale, Xi advanced her academic and research training. She also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant on several NIH- and faculty-led projects.
Xi’s research interests focus on psychological symptoms experienced by patients across the continuum of cancer care—from diagnosis and treatment to remission and palliative care. She seeks to identify underlying mechanisms and risk factors contributing to these symptoms and to develop evidence-based interventions to improve psychological support and quality of life for patients.
