NYU Meyers faculty have a long history of collaboration with colleagues in China. Building on that foundation, we are continuing to develop partnerships with institutions in China, with the goal of fostering sustainable and meaningful research, education and practice.

PhD Research Exchange and Co-Mentoring

In partnership with Xiangya School of Nursing of Central South University and Fudan University School of Nursing, this collaborative program strengthens global nursing research capacity and fosters research collaborations from both countries through an exchange program that allows PhD students from participating institutions to carry out research work on the other institution’s campus, and also by engaging faculty from both sides who guide the participating students’ research.

Nurse Practitioner Pilot Program

We have been working with Xiangya School of Nursing of Central South University and the three Xiangya-affiliated hospitals in a consultancy role as they begin to develop a Master’s degree nurse practitioner program, something that does not currently exist in China.

NYU Meyers’ faculty traveled to Changsha in 2019 for an initial assessment visit and have since been working with a core group of nursing leaders from Xiangya School of Nursing and the three affiliated hospitals as they begin to develop their training plan.

In 2019, the Director of NYU Meyers’ Simulation Center traveled to Changsha for an assessment visit. This was followed by a 3-day visit from Xiangya’s simulation center director and core simulation faculty to NYU Meyers College of Nursing to observe the operation of our center.
