Women Living with Obesity and ACES*

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the co-occurrence of obesity and childhood experiences of abuse, neglect, and family problems in adult women. By sharing your perspectives and stories about these experiences, you could potentially help other women dealing with the same issues.

If you participate in the study, you will be interviewed once, for approximately 1 hour, in an understanding and supportive manner by a PhD student, Christy Jared, from NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. You will be compensated for your time.

You might qualify for this study if you...

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Identify as female
  • Have a body mass index ≥ 30
  • Experienced abuse, neglect, or family dysfunction) before age 18

*ACEs = Adverse Childhood Experiences such as abuse, neglect, or family dysfunction
