Nurs Educ II Theory: Curr Develop Implement
NURSE-GN 2172, 3 Credits, (Fall)
This course will examine innovations in education that support and promote a culture of active learning. The student will design a course that meets the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials, and the principles of curriculum development. The students will integrate Quality and Safety Education in Nursing (QSEN) and Interprofessional Education Consortium (IPEC) competencies and the theoretical model of cultural humility in teaching nursing. The students will discuss the integration of global citizenship in the nursing curriculum. The students will implement the principles of instructional design in developing lessons and online modules. Evidence for a wide range of learner-centered pedagogy and educational technology is examined. The students will explore the research on teaching critical thinking and clinical judgment to develop students who “think like a nurse.” The students will continue to frame their beginning philosophy of teaching-learning in nursing and their beliefs about inclusion, diversity, and equity in education. The students will continue to examine the historical perspective and future directions of nursing education both in the United States and globally.
