Nursing Educ III Theory Curriculum Evaluation

NURSE-GN 2174, 3 Credits, (Spring)

This course addresses curriculum development from conception to design to implementation and evaluation. The course covers the evaluation process of teaching and learning. The students will be provided with an opportunity to develop assessment tools and exam items to assess clinical judgment. The students will evaluate the validity and reliability of test items. The accreditation of colleges and universities will be discussed. The use of learning analytics to assess student engagement and teaching methodology will be explored. Patient education and literacy issues are examined. Issues related to high stakes testing, mandatory continuing education for re-licensure, lifetime employment (tenure) will be debated. The educator role in nursing professional development and as a leader and change agent will be explored. The students will revisit and refine their philosophy of teaching-learning in nursing and their beliefs about inclusion, diversity, and equity in education.
