Dr. Diana Mason is a leader in nursing and healthcare, a journalist, a scholar, an educator, a researcher and public health nurse with numerous awards for her work in these areas. Join us for a virtual conversation with Dr.  Mason as she reflects on her nursing journey. 

 

Diana J. Mason, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACN(Hon.), FADLN, is Senior Policy Service Professor at George Washington University School of Nursing and Professor Emerita at Hunter College, where she founded the Center for Health, Media & Policy. She is the Programme Director for the International Council of Nurses’ Global Nursing Leadership Institute and a past President of the American Academy of Nursing.

A former editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Nursing, Dr. Mason has hosted health policy radio programs since 1985 and currently hosts HealthCetera in the Catskills on WIOX Radio. She has served on multiple national advisory committees, including Kaiser Health News and the National Academy of Science’s Committee on Integrating Social Care into Health Care.

Dr. Mason is the lead editor of Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health Care and was a regular contributor to JAMA Health Forum for over a decade. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to health policy, leadership, and advocacy. She holds degrees from West Virginia University, St. Louis University, and New York University, along with honorary doctorates from WVU and Long Island University.
