Professional Overview 
Dr. Nelson has extensive experience and clinical expertise in home care from 1990 through 2008 with both field and management experience. Dr. Nelson has presented either regionally or nationally on topics related to community health and quad council competencies and cultural diversity and community health nursing. Dr. Nelson is currently part of a Nurse Attending program at the NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Nelson was a co-investigator in both a regional and national study on community health nursing and the integration of quad council competencies. Recent research completed by Dr. Nelson was on the topic of nursing students’ perceptions of the effective characteristics and caring behaviors of their clinical instructor in a beginning level clinical setting. Dr. Nelson’s academic interests include quality improvement in nursing education and the use of educational technologies.
