Zhijing Xu, PhD, MSN, BSN, RN, is a Postdoctoral Associate at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Her research focuses on the health management of older adults with cardiometabolic conditions and the intersections of social determinants of health, mental health, and aging. She also contributes as a research coordinator on NIH-funded studies investigating oral health and dementia pathways. Xu’s teaching and scholarly interests include advanced nursing practice, evidence-based nursing, nursing research methods, maternal and child nursing, and gerontological care. She is currently a Rutgers–NYU Center for Asian Health Promotion and Equity (CAHPE) Scientist.

Xu is principal investigator of an NIH/NIMHD-funded pilot project examining multilevel influences on depression in adults with cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome. Her work integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches to advance health equity and inform workforce innovations in aging and chronic disease care.

Prior to joining the faculty at NYU Meyers, Xu served as an assistant professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, where she taught and developed curricula for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral nursing programs. Earlier, she was a visiting scholar at Duke University School of Nursing, where she deepened her expertise in nursing theory, qualitative methods, and curriculum design.

Xu is a member of the Gerontological Society of America and has served as a peer reviewer for leading journals, including International Journal of Nursing Studies, Health and Place, Aging and Health Research, and Midwifery.
