Ann Wolbert Burgess, D.N.Sc., APRN, FAAN, is an internationally recognized pioneer in the assessment and treatment of victims of trauma and abuse, and author of A Killer by Design: Murderers, Mindhunters, and My Quest to Decipher the Criminal Mind

Dr. Burgess will share the story of her role in the creation of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit in the 1970s and some of her most interesting criminal cases. Over two decades she helped identify, interview and track down dozens of notoriously violent offenders, including Ed Kemper ("The Co-Ed Killer"), Dennis Rader ("BTK"), Henry Wallace ("The Taco Bell Strangler"), and Jon Barry Simonis ("The Ski-Mask Rapist").  Her experiences were captured in Mindhunter, a 1995 book that became the basis for the fictionalized Netflix hit series.

The presentation will be followed by a networking reception.
