About this Event

About Dr. Emezue:

Chuka Nestor Emezue, PhD, MPH, MPA, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Women, Children, and Family Nursing at Rush University College of Nursing and the inaugural John L. and Helen Kellogg Endowed Faculty Scholar. His work advances prevention-focused approaches to interpersonal violence, youth mental health, and the biological embedding of chronic stress across the life course. Integrating community-engaged research, digital health innovation, and biopsychosocial science, Dr. Emezue translates evidence on adversity and stress into trauma-informed interventions that reduce violence risk and related health consequences. He directs the EMERGE Innova+ions Lab and developed BrotherlyACT and FatherlyACT, community- and technology-enabled programs co-designed with healthcare and community partners to support youth, fathers, and families affected by violence. His work is supported by the NIH and philanthropic foundations, and he is nationally recognized for policy-engaged scholarship and public contributions to violence prevention and youth mental health, including features in the Chicago Tribune, Ms. Magazine, and NPR.
