Post-treatment fatigue is one of the most frequently reported symptoms distressing patients after receiving five intense short courses of stereotactic body radiotherapy to treat prostate cancer. Questions remain regarding the identification of effective markers that have clinical significance for the risk assessment, prevention, and treatment of fatigue. Examining the relationship between social determinants of health including dietary adversity (food insecurity, dietary quality), and differentially expressed genes of the mTOR pathway with post-treatment fatigue will provide proof of the principle of underlying factors that increase fatigue risk to support further development and validation of serum biomarkers of fatigue severity and modifiable biologically relevant therapeutic targets to treat fatigue and improve outcomes in this population.
