29th Annual Estelle Osborne Legacy Celebration
29th Annual Estelle Osborne Legacy Celebration
60 Washington Square South
Rosenthal Pavilion, 10th floor
Join us for this annual event commemorating the life and legacy of Estelle Massey Osborne, a true pioneer who fought fiercely to eliminate segregation and discrimination in nursing education and employment. She was the first Black woman to receive a Master's Degree in nursing in the United States and the first Black faculty member at NYU Meyers.
This year we honor the achievements of Sylvia Williams MA ’76, who has carried on the spirit of Osborne's work by advancing the professional development of nurses, serving as a role model, and actively participating in professional organizations.
The afternoon will start at 2:00pm with a panel presentation titled, "Looking Back to Look Forward: Racial Disparities in Midwifery and Black Women's Health." An award ceremony honoring Williams will commence at 3:00pm.
Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the NYU community. We hope to see you there!
