Meyers Research Support

Nursing Research Resources & Support

NYU Meyers provides a comprehensive support ecosystem that guides researchers from initial project visioning through active study management. Through the Pless Center and the Research Office, faculty have access to pilot funding, expert mentorship, and intensive grant development via the SWIP and S-GAP programs. These resources are complemented by dedicated Project Management Services that streamline IRB and regulatory processes, ensuring both scholarly excellence and operational efficiency throughout the research lifecycle.

Researchers talking at round table

Sharing Works in Progress (SWIP):

The Research Office partners with early-stage and new investigators to provide a collaborative internal review designed to strengthen their proposals before submission, using a structured peer-review process.

To ensure applications are as competitive as possible, we pair investigators with a three-person expert team to provide ongoing, iterative feedback on their proposals and Specific Aims. We help monitor the submission timeline and facilitate a formal review meeting 2–3 weeks prior to the sponsor's deadline, ensuring investigators receive expert insight and leadership support necessary for a successful submission.

Special Grants Accelerator Program (S-GAP):

S-GAP, led and administered by research office staff and faculty, provides support and assistance for early-stage and new investigators, clinical faculty, and faculty submitting large grants with:

  • Project visioning
  • Aims and grant review
  • Supporting document drafting
  • Coordinating grant submission

S-GAP also coordinates ongoing writing and grant review workshops for all faculty.

Research Development & Project Management Services:

We provide hands-on consultation to help newly funded investigators navigate the transition from "grant awarded" to "study active." Our goal is to help you think through your project operationally and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Assistance is available in the following areas:

IRB Submission & Guidance: We help you navigate the NYU Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) during the critical post-award phase, so you can get your research started without unnecessary delays.

Study Operationalization: We help you think through the "logistical architecture" of your project. This includes:

  • Data Systems: Setting up secure collection environments like REDCap.
  • SOPs: Establishing standard operating procedures for your study team.
  • Lab Coordination: Managing logistics with the Meyers Biological Laboratory for biospecimen-based studies.

Compliance & Regulatory Maintenance: We offer periodic check-ins to help your staff maintain "audit-ready" study files. We focus on verifying key documentation, including Delegation of Authority (DoA) logs, recruitment and enrollment tracking, and staff training and credential records.

The Muriel and Virginia Pless Center Speaker Series

Established in 1995, the Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Nursing Research advances the scientific mission of NYU Meyers. The Center fosters a collaborative ecosystem through its signature Pless Talks, which feature renowned experts with proven track records of funding success. These sessions go beyond the lecture hall: following each presentation, faculty and students engage in personalized consultations or group discussions to gain high-level scientific insights and expert guidance on proposal development.
