Becoming an Upsilon Member

The Upsilon Chapter of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, accepts applications for membership twice per year.  Undergraduate student applications are accepted in the fall, while applications for graduate students and nurse leaders are accepted in the spring.  Our annual induction for all new inductees occurs in the spring.

STTI is committed to fostering excellence, scholarship, and leadership in nursing to improve healthcare;worldwide. STTI promotes the use of nursing research in health care delivery and makes its resources available to all people and institutions interested in the latest knowledge in nursing care.

Criteria for membership, established by Upsilon Chapter and STTI, are as follows:

 

Undergraduate Students Graduate Students Nurse Leader Candidates
Have completed 1/2 of the nursing curriculum (completion of all courses in the first and second nursing sequences) Have completed 1/4 of the nursing curriculum (based on minimum number of hours required for graduation in program) Be legally recognized to practice nursing in his/her country
Have earned a GPA of 3.50 (based on a 4.0 grading scale; no rounding) Have earned a GPA of 3.50 (based on a 4.0 grading scale; no rounding) Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field of nursing
Not have any incomplete grades on the transcript Not have any incomplete grades on the transcript Demonstrate achievement in nursing

Applications for Spring 2017 have closed. Our next application cycle will be in Fall 2018 for third and fourth sequence undergraduate students.

 

We will be honoring our Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 inductees at our annual induction ceremony, which will take place on Monday, April 3 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Rosenthal Pavilion, located on the 10th floor of the Kimmel Center at NYU at 60 Washington Square South, New York, NY, 10012.
