About this Event

Join us for a special discussion and book signing with Tim Cunningham, author of Cultivating Compassion in Nursing: From Learner to Leader.

An emergency nurse by training, Cunningham has cared for patients in some of the world's toughest settings, from post-earthquake Haiti to Sierra Leone during the Ebola outbreak. He has spent his career helping nurses build resilience and compassion, including as co-chief well-being officer at Emory Healthcare.

Nursing is consistently ranked the most trusted profession, yet nurses today face enormous pressure from staffing shortages, rapidly changing technology, and high-stress environments that make compassionate care harder to sustain. Cunningham argues that compassion isn't just a feeling. It's a skill that can be strengthened like a muscle. Drawing on science, human behavior, and real-world case studies, he shows how compassion spreads from person to person. One nurse's act of care can set off a chain reaction that improves patient health, strengthens teams, and helps prevent burnout.

Dean Angela Amar will moderate this discussion.  Books will be available for purchase and signing following the talk.
