Project Period
Achieving better T2D self-management remains a challenge for socio-economically disadvantaged populations and immigrants. Adult Haitian immigrants with T2D have higher insulin resistance and A1c than other comparable racial/ethnic groups, increasing their risk for morbidity and mortality. The proposed training plan and research study will focus on understanding the factors leading to Haitian immigrants’ increased risk for poor T2D outcomes and identifying more specific targets for intervention.
