Join us for a virtual interview with Dr. Mary Joy Garcia-Dia as she reflects on her career and research, navigating challenges, and how these experiences have shaped her journey.  

Dr. Mary Joy Garcia-Dia is the Corporate Program Director for Nursing Informatics in the Information Technology Department at NewYork-Presbyterian. A critical care nurse by training, she has led enterprise-wide clinical systems implementations and integrations across major academic medical centers, including physiologic monitoring, mobile technologies, and virtual nursing. She holds a master’s degree in nursing informatics from New York University, a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and Coldiron Senior Nurse Executive Fellowship both from Case Western Reserve University. Her research interests include global health, mobile technology, and virtual care. Dr. Garcia-Dia has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, published Project Management in Nursing Informatics (2019), and co-edited The Informatics Guide to Healthcare: From Insight to Action (2026).
