Junyi Lin's additional information

Junyi Lin is a first-year PhD student at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing(BSN) in 2021 from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2024 from Capital Medical University, Beijing. Junyi’s research passion lies in palliative and hospice care, with a specific focus on culturally sensitive approaches to support patients and family caregivers. During her graduate studies, she actively contributed to research projects that developed and tested a psychological intervention Family-Based Dignity Therapy, and developed a novel palliative care model based on dignity with Chinese cultural characteristics. Junyi is particularly interested in mixed-methods and qualitative research design. She has conducted qualitative interviews with diverse populations including advanced cancer patients, family caregivers, and palliative care providers, using content analysis and thematic analysis to derive insights. For her master’s dissertation, she completed a grounded theory study on constructing the death value in palliative care within the Chinese cultural context.

Junyi has published several first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals such as the European Journal of Oncology NursingPalliative & Supportive Care, and the European Journal of Cancer Care. She has also presented her work at international conferences, including the 23rd International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) 2022 World Congress and The 2022 World Cancer Congress. Additionally, she served as an editor for the chapter Dignity Therapy in the CACA Technical Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer.

Currently, Junyi is dedicated to supporting culture-sensitive palliative care and exploring the integration of palliative care into self-management for Chinese American patients with life-limiting, serious illnesses and their family caregivers. She aims to contribute to a diverse self-management science in palliative care and enhance health equity in palliative care for immigrant populations by leveraging the knowledge, skills, mentorship, and resources available at NYU.
