Running for Leadership Positions

Each spring, Upsilon Chapter holds elections for positions on its board of directors as well as its Governance and Leadership Succession Committees. Board and committee members, if elected, then serve a two-year term, with the exception of the president-elect, who serves a one-year term as president-elect and then transitions to the role ofpPresident for a two-year term. The positions are elected as follows:

  • Odd-numbered years (e.g., 2019)
    • President-Elect
    • Treasurer
    • Counselor
    • Governance Committee - 1 position
    • Leadership Succession Committee - 2 positions
  • Even-numbered years (e.g., 2020)
    • Vice President
    • Secretary
    • Counselor
    • Governance Committee - 2 positions
    • Leadership Succession Committee - 1 position

2018 ELECTIONS RESULTS

Our 2017 election cycle is complete. Upsilon congratulates the following newly elected board members:

  • Vice President: Sandy Cayo
  • Secretary: Beth Latimer
  • Counselor: Theresa Bucco
  • Governance Committee: Sarbjit Kaur, Natalya Pasklinsky
  • Leadership Succession Committee: Mary Amin

 

2019 ELECTIONS

Our 2019 call for nominations will go out March 18, 2019, with nominations due on April 12, 2019. Elections will begin on April 29, 2019, with voting closing on May 17, 2019. We will be holding elections for the following positions in 2019:

  • President-Elect
  • Treasurer
  • Counselor
  • Governance Committee (1 position)
  • Leadership Succession Committee (2 positions)

Newly elected leaders will be expected to attend a transition meeting on June 24, 2019 (6:00 to 8:00 PM) and will take office on July 1, 2019.

LEADERSHIP INTERNS

Upsilon Chapter has three leadership intern positions available each spring. A leadership intern is an undergraduate student in their final nursing sequence during the spring semester who serves from January - June in one of three positions:

  • Events and Education Intern
  • Membership Engagement Intern
  • Presidential Intern

 

The position is for soon to be nurses to develop leadership skills while also serving the Upsilon Chapter. Leadership interns who complete their six months of service have their first-time NCLEX cost ($200) covered by Upsilon Chapter.

 

Applications for Spring 2019 leadership interns will be available November 26, 2018, and due on December 14, 2018. New leadership interns for Spring 2019 will be announced no later than January 11, 2019. Potential applicants are newly inducted (fall induction cycle) third sequence nursing students entering the fourth sequence in January of 2019.
