Project Period
Asian Americans face prominent diabetes care disparities, with a higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes, a higher incidence of type 2 diabetes with lower body mass index, worse glycemic control, and poorer health status compared with non-Hispanic Whites. This highly innovative adaptive dietary intervention will shift the current dietary management paradigm for Chinese and Vietnamese Americans with type 2 diabetes, which may improve health equity and reduce disparities in diabetes care for these two minority populations. The proposed intervention has applicability to dietary management in other race/ethnic groups, including other Asian American ethnicities with type 2 diabetes.
