Donna McCabe, DNP, GNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, is a Clinical Associate Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and the Assistant Director of Education Programs at the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing. She is a clinician, educator, and scholar whose career has been devoted to advancing the care of older adults through integrated behavioral health, interprofessional education, and health systems innovation. With dual board certification as a geriatric nurse practitioner and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, McCabe brings nearly three decades of clinical experience in acute care, long-term care, and community settings to her academic and professional leadership roles.

Throughout her career, McCabe has championed initiatives that strengthen the quality and safety of care for aging populations, address mental health disparities in older adults, and promote workforce development in long-term care. She has led and collaborated on multiple funded projects supported by the NIH, HRSA, and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, with a focus on dementia care, interprofessional teaching strategies, and the transition of new nurses into complex care environments. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Faculty, the NYU Meyers Dean’s Distinguished Faculty Award, and recognition as a Distinguished Gerontological Nurse Educator by the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence.

A committed faculty leader and mentor, McCabe has served as Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program at NYU Meyers and has played a central role in faculty governance, curriculum innovation, and strategic planning initiatives.
